Edwina Thorne is a Trumpeter, vocalist, composer, arranger, owner / operator of

Gazelle Music Ltd, Auckland, New Zealand offering a 16-track recording facility

which is located in Beach Haven, Auckland.

Edwina’s has received private tuition from numerous international performers and

coaches including: Carmine Carusso, Woody Shaw, Freddie Hubbard, Roy Stevens,

Vince Penserella, Jon Faddis, Lew Soloff, Reynolf Schilke, Lou Mucci, Mike Methney,

Jimmy Owens, Jeff Stout, Barry Harris, Dr Rheinhart.

Edwina’s television appearances from the age of 12 include: Joe Franklin Show in

New York; the New York Jazz Show with Mel Lewis, James Williams, and Ron McClure.

She has be the subject of such programmes as Kaleidoscope, and Weekend TV.

Edwina has continuously performed at numerous jazz festivals in New Zealand and the

U.S.A. including the New York Women’s Jazz Festival, Lincoln Centre, Dewar’s

New York Village Jazz Festival and upward of 20 Festivals in NZ.

Edwina has performed with many bands including the National Youth Orchestra, the

Royal New Zealand Air Force Band, Roger Fox Big Band, Red Mole Theatre Company,

Wellington Regional Orchestra, Golden Horn Big Band, Serendipity Theatre Group,

Susan Sexton Rock Band, La Chicas de Nueva York Latin band, Pink Terrace all-female

show band, E.T. Electrik band ( original Latin jazz rock arrangements) and

Jazzwyze (acoustic quintet playing jazz standards)

Edwina has played in Jazz bands alongside Slide Hampton, Etta James, Houston Pearson,

Dave Stahl, Allen carter, Jimmy Owens; and in backing bands for West Side Story,

The Circus, Bruce Forsythe, Vince Hill, Sir Harry Seacombe.
